Russell Irvin Bean, Sr., was ordained a deacon in 1977, admitted as an associate
member of the Florida Conference in 1979, admitted as a probationary member in 1983,
and ordained a full elder in 1987. He served the following appointments: Bethel,
Tallahassee, 1979-82 student, Candler School of Theology, 1982-85; Grace, Tampa, 1985-
90; Northeast, Tampa, 1990-92; and Albright, St. Petersburg, 1992-94. He retired in 1994.
He passed away on August 3, 2018, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held on August 7, 2018, in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. Interment with navy honors followed at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
Russell was predeceased by his son-in-law Lynford and his daughter-in-law Laura, as well as by his brothers, Robert Bean, Wayne Bean, and Donald Bean, and brother-inlaw John Beck. Survivors include his loving wife Aneta Bean; his children, Russell Bean, Jr., and wife Karen, Sue “Juaneta” Coster and husband Robert, James Bean and wife Karen, Patricia Whitfield and husband Nathan, Cynthia Beaman, and Thomas Bean; sisters, Jane Mealy and Helen Beck; grandchildren: Deleah, David, Judson, Daniel, Kevin, Jason, Matthew, Richard, Michelle, Michael, James, Melissa, James, Thomas, and Marcus; and great grandchildren, Taylor, Makia, Mehalina, Nathan, Jonah, Nyelle, Brody, Patsy, Riley, and Jaxson.
